Hello. Thanks for asking from HCM.
I can understand your concern. It is good that you have almost recovered from your injury. The swelling over forehead could be
: Post traumatic
inflammatory edema - It is due to inflammation or reaction post
head injury. It is a normal process which occurs to heal injury. Usually it subsides in 10-14 days. The swelling is firm, painful, tender to touch, red than dark and finally skin coloured.
For relief, you can take painkiller like
Diclofenac sodium after proper prescription. You can apply icepacks to relieve swelling. Keep your head at higher level than chest.
:
Hematoma - It is collection of blood in scalp layers after injury. It is soft to firm, painful, tender to touch, rest features are similar to inflammatory edema.
It usually resolves in few weeks, but sometimes it may persist. In such cases, surgical evacuation is needed. For this, you have to
consult doctor. After evaluation, plan will be decided. You can also follow treatment as prescribed for inflammatory edema for small swelling.
You can correlate your features and decide accordingly. Hope it will help you.
Thanks. Take care.
