Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I landed on my straightened knee in gymnastics last Tuesday and it didn t hurt too bad just enough that I knew to stop. I could even walk on it and only actually hurt when I went to turn or move more sideways. It still hurts and feels like it slides when I step more sideways or turn. I also cannot bend it fully or kneel on it without pain. Mainly I would like to know if you have any suggestions on how to make it heal faster and I have gymnastics on Tuesday again so would it be alright to do gymnastics and would wearing a knee support help for activities such as gymnastics or other physical activities until it s fully healed?

Hello, Thanks for your query.
I have read your query in detail. The symptoms you have described are more likely to be symptoms of muscles strain. To get relief from the pain and for quick healing: 1. Do hot fomatation at the site. 2. Apply local anti-inflammatory gel 2-3 times a day. 3. Take anti-inflammatory drugs like Ibuprofen to reduce pain and local swelling or inflammation. 4. Do not try to do exercise that involve painful muscles. Give proper time to heal.
I do hope that you have found something helpful and I will be glad to answer any further query. Take care
ideally, you must consult a knee doctor and have an MRI of knee to find out if there is menisical tear and or cruciate ligament injury.till it is done, refrain from walking/sports.in addition wear knee cap or brace for support.if nothing comes out on radiological assessment you may be allowed gradual return to activity.
