I HAVE ASTHMA sll my life 55 yrs. I have lung prblems all through life. My lung tet showed only 35 % cpcity.what can I do to make it better. My 2 nd hand exposure was 35 yrs f my life my mom ws a smoker. The dr. Gave me alot f meds its otten to the point nothing reslly works.
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. Decrease in lung capacity could be due to asthma disease itself causing broncho-constriction as well as elasticity tissue damage caused due to smoking. Damage caused to the lung tissue due to smoking is not reversible. Lung capacity could thus be increased by means of the following: 1. Use of bronchodilator medications. 2. Chest physiotherapy and breathing exercises. Only when both these things are done in combination, results would be better and your lung function would substantially improve. Kindly consult Physiotherapist for the chest and breathing exercises. Hope the information provided would be helpful. All the best.
