How To Interpret HIV Elisa Test Result?

Hi, I m Ramesh from jharkhand, I want to know about HIV ELISA test result, actually i had done sex with an unknown lady without condom five or six times in march to august 2009 and my penis infected and swelled, after that i had perform hiv elisa test in february 2010 to confirm i m infected or not. however my hiv elisa result is 0.30,and i m in confusion. so please tell me what is my result?

Thnx to contact us. I understand your concern.

If I am your doctor I advice you that ELISA is always interpreted in the lay of cut of values described by the manufacturer of th kit. eg if the cut of provided in the kit is 0.25 than your value 0.30 is considered to be positive. As you do not mentioned the cutoff value for the test it is difficult to interpret the result. So in my opinion you should ask for cutoff value from the person who tested the test.
