Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am a female, 50 overweight with perfect fasting blood glucose normal BP and good LDL as well as the other type. Diabetes does run in my maternal line. I have recently gotten a blood test with a high A1C level for the first time. How can I lower that?
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. HbA1c (Glycated hemoglobin) levels indicates the control of glucose homeostasis over the past 3 months. Even though the fasting and post-postprandial glucose is within normal limits when it is checked frequently, HbA1c levels tells about the average blood glucose levels over the previous 3 months. Hence, you need to strictly maintain your diet and exercise regularly so that it would avoid fluctuations in blood glucose levels. That would help to reflect your HbA1c levels within normal range. Hope the information provided would be useful for you. Thank you.
