Hello sir/mam, i have recently been through a blood diagnosis and my SGOT(129), SGPT (178) levels indicated are quite high. I was taking isotretinoin and neem ghanvati for acne from last 1 month. My doctor has stopped my isotretinoin medicine but i am still taking neem. Please help me out in maintaining my liver levels.are these symptoms due to medicines?. Are these diagnosis details fatal?. I am 18 year male, kindly suggest any way to restore my normal Sgot and sgpt levels.
Yes, it may be due to medicine. There are many conditions and diseases, which can result in increased SGPT level: - Drinking alcohol - Acute viral hepatitis A and B - Celiac disease - Diabetes - Heart attack - Obesity - Hepatitis C - Epstein-Barr virus - Gallbladder inflammation (cholecystitis) - Dermatomyositis
Have a healthy liver diet henceforth, to lower SGPT and SGOT levels. - Try to get more Vitamin D - Go for plant-based nutrient-rich food - Avoid the foods that contain high salt and sodium - Avoid the deep fried, oily foods - Avoid junk foods - Stop drinking alcohol - Lifestyle modification - High fiber diet - Eat colored vegetables and fruits
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Arup Majumdar, General & Family Physician
