How To Lower An Infant's Fever?

hello doc (i have a 2 girls, a 3 yr old and) i have 10 mos old baby girl,(she's sickly even im breastfeeding her).she was sick since monday with flu and low fever, but last wednesday she had 39 o'c fever, then up and down until today...always 37.4 to 38.7 o'c...we're giving her arfen 125 mg every 4 hrs and her pedia gave her augmentin duo and taking it since wednesday night...her flu deminishing. she vomited any food i gave her and last night she vomited yellowcolor fluid after drinking her water. but why she still has a fever?.

Fever of four days without any localizing signs could as well a viral illness. Usually rather than fever, what is more important is the activity of the child, in between 2 fever episodes on the same day. If she is active and playing around when there is no fever, it is probably and it doesn't require antibiotics at all. Once viral fever comes it will there for 4-7 days. So do not worry about duration if the kid is active.

You can treat fever with Paracetamol at 15mg/kg/dose every 4-6th hourly if fever is > 100F.
