How To Manage After Lumbar Surgeries And Hip Replacement While On Morphine?

I m veteran not that it means anything but to give some insight an 49 years old at the time of last surgery and 56 now, 17 years 5 lumbar surgery s an fusions Bi hip replacements 1 hip x2, that doesn t count for everything else, 100mg so4 morphine am/pm, hydrocodone x2 10/325, and or tramadol 50mg 2 3x day, nose bleeds what s the life expectancy reduction, do they have place that can teach someone like me that has cause for taking some med s a place to learn how better to deal with just the physical issues, yes there are others issues trying to start with the ones that are closer to killing me now.

Hello,

You have undergone too many surgeries and I appreciate your attitude towards life. If you want to be advised with respect to the pain medication, opioids are really safer drugs than NSAIDs. They won't decrease your life expectancy. They do not cause much gastric irritation. They are kidneys and liver safe drugs.

If you feel you are using too many medications, you can give up morphine and use the others and see how you would feel or tolerate. I advise opioids to my patients coming with similar complaints.
