Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello. Seems like a typical female issue but maybe it isn t. This did not happen as much in my pre 60 s, but now that I am 61, whenever I eat seafood, I can smell it on me the next morning. Not necessarily in my vagina, but I do smell it in the shower, if just for a quick moment. Should I stop eating seafood? I love it so much. Is there something I can take before I eat it to prevent this from happening? Thank you.
Sea food contain significant amounts of TMAO, before eating them try to bind in lemon, vinegar or tomato to reduce the smell / odor. You will be more comfortable. You can take non sedating antihistamines for relieve. If you still have problem then you should cut on taking sea food.
However, it can be vaginosis (trichomoniasis) infection that may be causing fish smelling odor. You are suggested to get clinically examined by a gynecologist to stay on the safer side. Get treated at the earliest.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
