I'm taking a speech class in college that requires 8 minute speeches in front of the class. I have really bad speech anxiety. The worst symptom that causes me the most fear is feeling like my ears are suddenly plugged up while speaking. My ears will frequently go in and out of this plugged up state until i'm done giving the speech. I can deal with being nervous, but the hearing symptom of the anxiety makes me think i could be yelling or talking funny. In my head, it sounds like i'm talking under water or something. As a result, I have little to no eye contact with the audience, tons of filler words, nervous fidgeting, all adding up to a terrifying few minutes in front of the class. Is there a medication that I can take before my speeches to stop this from happening to me?
