Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain it seems that the food have got impacted either in a cavity if the tooth is cavitated or it could have been impacted into the gums in case if any of the molar is not cavitated..
Antibiotics must be given as many a times when food gets impacted into the gums it causes bacterial infection and formation of a gum
abscess..
If there is no more infection and the food that got impacted is removed you can take a course of antibiotics as prescribed by the doctor for the number of days and then discontinue..
In case if it is a deeply cavitataed tooth then you should complete the course of medicine but should also get the tooth treated by consulting a
dentist and get an
x ray done and in case of deep infection
root canal treatment followed by antibiotics and painkillers will relieve while if nerves are not involved filling of the tooth with tooth coloured filling material will prevent deposition of food in that area..
Hope this information helps..
