my son suffers from severe migraines and is getting them up to four or five times a week. HE IS BEING TREATED WITH TOPOMAX and Imitrex(injections) which work but is having trouble keeping them in stock. And he is having to use the Imitrex almost every day. His question is, could the weather, or sleep apnea cause these headaches? They almost always come during the night. He is at the end of his rope because it is impacting his work and he fears he will lose his job if this keeps up. Can you help?
Hello, Thanks for choosing health care magic for posting your query. I have gone through your question in detail and I can understand what you are going through. Yes the whether and sleep apnea can exacerbate the migraines. If he has sleep apnoea then he should start using the bipap apparatus at night for sleep. That should resolve the migraine trouble. It seems he is also having an accompanying depression and it worsens the episodes of migraine. He should use some antidepressants such as bupropion, venlafaxine, escitalopram or citalopram which will take care of the depression as well as the headaches. Hope I am able to answer your concerns. If you have any further query, I would be glad to help you.
