How To Overcome Side Effects Of Glycomet For Diabetes?
hello doctor ,
i am kashvi , my mother is a diabetic patient ,and she is having BP too... and is taking a glycomet 1gm tablet twice a daily from 15days ago & continuing too.. due to this tablet is getting many side effects of [ vomiting , dysentery, stomach pain , guidiness , numbess , & more over the tablet is not digesting ...some day it will be out in vomiting or in motion ...] after that she consulted her physician and they advised her that it is due to over dosage, so to take only one tablet in the night ..after this also, she is facing these problems....so what she can do for this .... is it will be ok if she take half tablet in the morning & half in the night ...or please give your advise doctor....

Dear Kashvi i can understand your concern.
in my opinion the metformin is a very good medication in diabetes but having side effects like gastric intolerance.
there are many ways to overcome it and in most of patients this will decrease with due course of time.
in market the same glycomet is available in a sustained release formulation it is called glycomet-SR.
Due to its sustained and slow release nature this SR formulation will have lesser side effects than regular formulation.
The other best way to overcome the side effects is to split the dose and take 10 mins after food.
