Hi, I am Asma, My period is will be started hopefully on 25th of June... My last menstruation completed on last Tuesday (02/06/0215). Is it possible to start the contraceptive pills (Overal-L) from today onwards..? Second question : I need to postponed my next period upto 05th of July. Then in which date I can start primolut N to extend my period ? Also if I am taking primolut N upto 05th of July, is it enough as a contraceptive during these dates or is it necessary to take other contraceptive (like OVERAL -L) ? Another doubt : If I start OVERAL-L from 20th June upto 05th July, is it work as a contraceptive pills as well as to extend my next period upto 05th July ? Please answer me sir...

General & Family Physician, Dr. Nishad BN's Response
Hi
Primolut N can be taken for delaying periods. It should be started atleast 3 days before the expected date of period. You can continue till the date you don't want to get period. You are most likely to get a period within 3 days after stopping the pill. Overall l (combined oral contraceptive pills) take it as mentioned- from day 1 of your menstrual cycle. This will give proper contraception.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Nishad B. N., General & Family Physician
