Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
hello, i was sharing flat with my friends who are now diagnosed with chicken pox. i am also having symptoms like tiredness and lower back ache. so, can this be chicken pox. if so , how can it be prevented. i had left the house the day got to know about their chicken pox thing.
Chickenpox is an infectious disease. The virus can be spread from person to person by direct contact, inhalation of aerosols from vesicular fluid of skin lesions, and possibly through infected respiratory secretions that also may be aerosolized. A person with chickenpox is contagious beginning 1 to 2 days before rash onset until all the rashes have crusted.
Avoid contact with your friends until their chickenpox lesions have dried up. Maintain good hygiene, wash your hands frequently, take paracetamol for the symptomatic relief from the body ache, tiredness and fever. Your doctor would also prescribe antiviral drug acyclovir which is more effective if used within first 24 hours after the rash starts. Stay at home until all of your blisters have dried and crusted over.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali, General & Family Physician
