Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I'm 28, female, white. Male was also 28 and from England. I had vaginal intercourse late Saturday night. I asked him to put on a condom, which he did, but drinking was involved and I'm worried the condom may have broke or fallen off. Should I get started on PEP medications?
Here you are having intercourse history and under effect of alcohol you are not sure whether condom was there during intercourse or not ....
So better to use emergency pill to prevent pregnancy....
Levonorgestril tablet commonly used as emergency pill... The dose is 0.75 mg ...The first dose should be taken as soon as possible .. After 72 hour of unprotected intercourse ,it should not be used ....
The second dose repeated after 12 hour...
Meanwhile after first dose if vomiting, dizziness, breast tenderness present than immediate consultation to doctor is necessary...
Advise : Consult gynecologist without delay for examination and detail history and subsequent prescription of levonorgestrel...
Take care
