Hi,
A PSA test measures the level of prostate-specific antigen in the blood, and high levels of PSA can indicate
prostate cancer or other prostate problems. In combination with an elevated white count and sed rate, which can indicate inflammation or infection in the body, it is important to follow up with a
urologist as soon as possible to further investigate the cause of these abnormalities.
While a 3 week's wait for an appointment may seem concerning, it is important to remember that many urologists have busy schedules and may have a waitlist for appointments. However, if your husband experiences any significant changes in symptoms or new symptoms such as difficulty urinating, blood in urine, or
severe pain, it may be necessary to contact the urologist's office and ask for an earlier appointment or seek medical attention in an emergency department.
In the meantime, your husband should continue to take any prescribed medications as directed and follow any recommendations from his
primary care physician. It may also be helpful for him to make lifestyle changes such as eating a healthy diet, staying physically active, and avoiding tobacco and excessive alcohol consumption.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Priyanka, General & Family Physician
