Hi, I started having Gutkha to quit smoking... I successfully quit smoking, but now i am addicted to Gutkha. This is happening since one year. Now, I cant eat any spicy food or hot food.. I am unable to have hot tea too.. I have to wait till it cools down and then have. I love pickles.. and i cant even touch them now. Can you prescribe me any medicines that can solve this problem of mine.. 1. To Quit Gutkha 2. To make my mouth - especially inner cheeks and tongue - able to eat spicy and hot food...?
Tricky. Gutkha is quite complex and dangerous. If it is mainly the nicotine that is addictive (I am not sure that is correct!) then other nicotine replacements (patch, maybe vapes) would be one method. WIth either, start tapering down the nicotine a bit every week or two to finally be off of things.
The mouth issue is not generally associated with nicotine. BUT the other chemicals in Gutkha are quite harsh. The mouth needs examination because lesions in the mouth that sensitize to food are signs of possible cancer. THat being said, the chemicals in Gutkha are plain irritants that can scrape the mouth raw. Not using it, and eating a very bland diet and the mouth can heal up. If it is bad teeth, not until a dentist fixes things.
