Hello doctor, My name is viji. Iam 45 yrs old. Iam taking thyronorm 50 mcg from last 1 month. Before that for 3 years I have taken 62.5 mcg and my TSH levels r always normal. 1 month back my Tsh levels 4educ3d to 0.418 and my heart b3at fasten and had palpitations. Then I reduced to 50 mcg. Yesterday 7 have done my Tsh and it is 2.17. From last 2 days again iam feeling little fast heartbeat. Can I reduce the dosage further ? I have this hypothyroidism problem f4om last 6 years during my 2nd pregnancy. From then onwards mynlevels r normal but my physician prescribed me this thyronorm. I have done all my cardiovascular tests and everything is normal. I have high BP and taking concor 5 mg f4om last 1 month. Before that I was taken Telma AM 45mg. Bp tablet iam taking from last 2 yrs only. I don t have any other problem. Please help me in correct medicine dosage.
I have gone through your history and here is my advice. Thyroxine in excess can cause palpitations sometimes. However, TSH alone is sufficient to confirm it. Get Free T3, Free T4 and TSH that will guide your physician to decide the dose. Also check for other common causes of palpitations and anxiety disorders.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Deepak M R
