General & Family Physician 's  Response
Serum amylase level increases in a lot of pancreatic pathologies such as pancreatitis, pancreatic tumour, gall bladder infection etc. But increased amylase level itself is not a risk of developing a disease but a indicator of pancreatic damage. Hyperamylasea itself does not cause any symptoms.
To keep the amylase level low you have to take pancreas protective mechanism. Avoid alcohol strictly. Follow a diet low in fat and red meat but high in fiber. Maintain well hydration.
But its not necessary to monitor your amylase level routinely if you dont have any clinical symptoms.
