Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been experiencing sharp pain just around my right eyebrow for the past 3 days. The first time I felt it was during a flight soon after take off - my right eye felt like it will explode and was watery. The pain went away after landing but reappeared the fifth day after a brief walk outdoors at noon (sunny, 38 degrees Celsius temperature). Then I flew back and the pain reappeared. My vision is ok, but the pain in right eyebrow region is bothering me a great deal. There is a mild headache as a result of that. What should I do?
The pain may be due to neuralgia (nerve related pain). This causes intermittent sharp pain such as the type you are experiencing.
There are different causes for nerve related pain and they include: (1) vitamin b12 or folate deficiency (2) ms , stroke or other neurological disease (3)diabetes (4)trauma (5)liver or kidney disease (6)exposure to toxins (7)infections such as shingles
Blood tests such as vitamin b12 and folate levels, screening for diabetes and infection, liver function or kidney function test should be done.
I hope this helps
