Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I woke up 2 days ago with severe pain in my back around my shoulder blade. Nothing I do is helping. I ve tried icing, heat, otc pain medicine, even having my husband massage it. It s starting to make me nausea. Anything else I can possibly do or is it time to see a doctor?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Nishad BN's Response
Hi Thank you for asking HCM I have gone through your query. As you having pain in shoulder blade and nausea associated with pain a cardiac cause should be ruled out by doing an ECG. X ray also should be taken to rule out any problems regarding to lungs. If it is just localized pain with increasing pain on palpation then it can be due to muscle strain or sprain. In such case muscle relaxants like carisoprodol and NSAIDs like nimusulide will be helpful. If there is no such cause or pain not relieving by NSAIDs then it can be due to fibromyalgia. In such case SNRI like duloxetine or anticonvulsant drugs like pregabalin will be helpful. Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear. Thanks.
