Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have developed a sharp pain in my right middle back, right at the rib cage. Standing makes the pain worse and grabbing the sore area or applying pressure with a pillow help reduce the pain. Pain is minimal for the first 1-2 hours after I wake up. I suspect a soft tissue issue since the problem developed around the time I was reaching into a tree to pick apples. Cyclobenzaprene + Advil did nothing to relieve the pain.
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have pain in back at the rib cage . Well the symptoms you mention in query can occur due to may reasons like muscle strain , Poor posture , myofascial pain , jolted in a car , hit hard in the back and lift something too heavy . It can also sometimes occur due to cardiac condition like angina . I would suggest you to consult orthopedic surgeon for proper examination . Doctor may order x-ray , CT scan or MRI to confirm the diagnosis . Doctor may recommend physical therapy , particular type of exercises and prescribe muscle relaxant and analgesic . Doctor may also refer you to cardiologist if there will be cardiac problem . For now continue taking advil and apply warm compresses to back .
Hope your concern has been resolved.
