Hi Dear,
Welcome to HCM.
Understanding your concern.
Thanks for your query . Well this is very common problem in babies while teething . During teething gums swells because of two reasons .
- Firstly because gums get hurt while teethibg .
- Secondly immunity of baby is low during teething so they get infected easily.
I would suggest you to :-
- Rub clean finger on gums to make them numb for some time .
- Give your baby a dummy to chew .Silicone based chewing rings (sterile )
- Keep baby's diet healthy .
- Apply teething gels which are available , which contain
local anesthesia and antibiotics .
- You can also apply honey on gums which is a natural antiseptic.
If symptoms persist or get worse then
consult pediatrician or pedodontist for proper examination . Doctor may give
oral antibiotics .
You can also give
ibuprofen or
paracetamol , But only according to dose prescribe by the doctor .
hope your concern has been resolved.
Best Wishes,
Dr. Harry Maheshwari
