Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Over the last month I have had to fly from the east coast to the west coast twice. During the second trip I experienced severe pain in the tail bone which is still bothering me presently. I have a very hard time when I try to get out of a chair. I am a 65 year old female. How can I make this pain go away?
Tailbone bone (coccdynia) can be due to different possible causes but trauma to the area is the most common cause.
To relieve the pain you can consider: (1) rest (2)use of sitz pillows or other cushions to relieve the pain (3)anti inflammatory pain killers such as ibuprofen/naproxen/cataflam
I hope this helps
