my wife taken proluton depot 500mg. during 8th week due to Sub Chorionic Haemorage. She takes 3 injections for 3 weeks continously. Now she is having high Blood Sugar Levels (Fasting - 100, after 1 hr of lunch 155). Will it affects our baby?. How can she come down her Sugar levels?
The raised sugar may be due to the progesterone or a condition called gestational diabetes [ raised blood sugar due to pregnancy].
The levels are raised but not alarming so please do not worry. Ask her to eat a diet that does not contain any sugar, take more frequent meals that are small in quantity, do not eat rice, eat bread in small quantity, eat fruits like oranges and lemons, pomegranates, apples. Avoid mangoes, grapes, or any sweet fruit, regular exercise twice daily in the form of walking for 20 minutes. Recheck the sugar after 7 days of this diet control. If it is still raised, more likely it is gestational diabetes and will require insulin for decreasing the sugar.
