Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi! Have Graves disease and am on NeoMercazole 10mg a day. Have gained almost 12 kgs in 4 months. I feel dreadful! My TSH level is 0.15 and T4 is 9.5 now. How do I bring my TSH level higher to benefit from normalisation of weight? Also I suffer from lower leg cramps especially at night which I never did before? Is it associated with meds?
Based on the history you have shared, she may be having problem with inflammation of stomach lining called gastritis or acid peptic disease. Using antacids like esomerperazole or lansoprozole before meals along with motility agents like domperidone or itapride may be helpful however oral sucralfate suspension one hour before meals may also be needed. If problems persist, it's better to get an appointment for upper GI endoscopy as well. Avoiding spicy and junk food and fizzy beverages must be ensured.
Wishing her a speedy recovery. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Saddiq Ulabidin, General & Family Physician
