How To Regulate The Bilirubin Level?
Hi doctor, my friend s Bilirubin level is very high which is causing damage to his red blood cells, plus he has severe headache due to a displacement of nerve, which connects the brain with the neck, i guess. He was given very powerful medicines for the brain problem but as a result of bilirubin, doctors cannot let him take those powerful medicines. But he cannot even bear the pain of the headache. So i was wondering if you could tell what can be done right now in order to balance these situation and get rid of the problems one by one.

Your friend's high bilirubin is not causing red blood cell destruction. But red blood cells destruction called hemolytic anemia can cause high level of bilirubin. So to control bilirubin level, you need to treat underlying cause for hemolytic anemia if possible. You can rule out autoimmune hemolytic anemia by DCT test. The excess bilirubin from red blood cells destruction is unconjugated variety and it can cross blood brain barrier. Kindly upload your reports to comment further.
