Hi, I have a problem in my left ear, it sounds like a broken speaker with a kind of crackle or distortion above a certain volume. I know from previous health checks I have some scarring on the drum on this side, but the problem seems to be getting worse. Weirdly, if I put my finger in my ear and wiggle this can provide some temporary relief. I am male aged 46, non smoker, light drinker in very good health.
If you have a definite scarring of the drum which is associated with hearing loss then you must get an audiometry testing done along with a CT of the temporal bones and get back to me or any ENT with the reports.
The best treatment in this case would be a simple repair of the drum called the tympanoplasty which is a breeze for any experienced ENT surgeon
hope this helps
regards
