Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have what looks like either a blood blister or a blood boil behind my ear. I assume it was caused from sleeping with my earrings in. Is there anyway to get rid of it without seeking medical attention or at least make it less noticeable to the public. it doesn t hurt unless I touch it. I tried popping it yesterday with a sterile pin but only the tiniest bit of blood came out and didn t reduce the how noticeable is it. Just a lot of pain throughout the day
The apparent blood blister behind ear that could not be popped or no reduction in size in spite of pricking with a sterile pin, with lots of pain throughout the day indicates this may be an infected cyst, inflammation being increased due to pinning. The first part of management is not to fondle to avoid spread of inflammation. Take an anti-inflammatory medicine like Ibuprofen that will help to reduce the pain and swelling. If the part is red then it is better to consult a Doctor for prescription based antibiotic also. Apply Spirit or povidone liquid locally to avoid secondary inflammation as you have tried popping and done needling too. If this is cyst then you may need removal by a minor surgery.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
