Thanks for contacting HCM with your health concern
1. Since the scar/marks were caused by accidental
injury thus treatment will be for a longer duration and start first by having an appointment with a cosmetic/ plastic surgeon for possibilities like:
. application of silicone gels
. use of compression bandages
.
laser therapy for scar/mark reduction.
2. ointment like mederma,bio oil,vaseline, scarguard [contains
cortisone,
vitamin E,silicone] are some of the products which you can buy over the counter or after consulting your doctor for skin lightening.
3. Other measures which one can adopt is/are:
. Proper hydration [plenty of fluids/juices/herbal teas.
. use good quality sunscreen [minimum SPF 20]
. products which are rich in vitamin E and contain alpha hydroxyl acids are good for the skin
. One can apply a mixture of honey-turmeric and sandalwood powder on the affected area.
. Avoid going/moving outside during the peak hours [11 am to 5 pm] to avoid getting
tanning and too much exposure to ultraviolet rays.
. coconut oil, lemon juice, ripe papaya, yogurt are also helpful
PS. It is important to realize that the treatment/management will make/ appear the scar smoother but it will never go 100%
