Dear Doctor,I am a 24 year old man based out at Mumbai. The query is in regards to some dark spots on both my foots. The left one appears like a wart and the one right looks more like a brown patch(Both of them at the ankle).I had these since my childhood but this seems to have aggravated in course of time.I feel so disgusted looking at those. Is there any permanent cure to it?I had consulted a doctor last year, she asked me to apply xerina foot cream by ranbaxy but has not been of great help.Kindly assist.
Dark spots on the skin of the foot commonly occur due to fungal infection. You are suggested to take care of your hygiene, wash your feet with warm water and clean it with pumice stone. Apply antifungal cream (miconazole/clotrimazole) topically on the area affected. Xerina cream will help to restore moisture on dry skin patches of the skin.
It heals dry skin patches, soothes, and softens the skin. It may take time to show result. For better result you are suggested to get clinically examined by a dermatologist or a podiatrist, they may recommend laser treatment after examining you. It is effective.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
