Hey! Earlier, I had been eating a nectarine when my sister made me laugh. And of course, I was rewarded with a huge chunk of fruit getting sucked to the back of my throat and lodged down my epiglottis...pretty far, by the feel of it. It must be close to my larynx, because my voice is fairly strained. I know that coughing is your body s natural way of correcting food down the wrong pipe, but no matter how hard or frequently I cough, the piece won t come back up. It s not exactly painful, just really uncomfortable. My throat s just getting raw from all the coughing attempts. And I don t want the nectarine particle to cause an infection by staying stuck. Do I need to see a doctor to get it physically removed from my throat?
Hello While this may just be irritation after the piece of the nectarine was dislodged, it would be best to see a doctor to determine if that piece is still stuck in your throat
