How To Rule Out A Breakthrough Bleeding?

I think I m experiencing breakthrough bleeding as my periods are usually very heavy and on time (I take the pill) but this period is much lighter and was a day late. My question is how soon after starting breakthrough bleeding can I take a pregnancy test? Thanks

Hi,
Thanks for posting your query to us

Breakthrough bleeding is a common side effect of oral contraceptive pills. It is bound to go away after 3 cycles. You may be required to continue your pills, not missing them. If the bleeding persists after 3 cycles, you are asked to consult with your doctor and change the composition of your contraceptive pill.
In any case you have missed your periods for more than a week, you can do a pregnancy test to confirm.

I hope this helps.
Thank you
