Hi, I would like to know the best way to come off pain medications. I ve been taking pain meds for a disease I was diagnosed with about 2 years ago. I never took more than was prescribed during that time. I had back surgery end of January and was give stronger doses. Lately I realized I ve been taking more than what was prescribed. My understanding is that I should not stop suddenly. Please advise what I should do. Thank you.
Hi, Yes, you are not to stop the pain medications abruptly after taking it for so many days. The type and dose is not mentioned in the description. I would recommend to taper the dose; usually cutting down by half over weeks to avoid any withdrawal effects. Preferably tapering should be down according to the instructions from a pain specialist. I hope the above information helps you. Thanks for writing into healthcaremagic. Take care.
