You are facing indeed a considerable problems. Post partum bleeding continuing for two months has to be considered rather seriously. Such continuous bleeding can be mainly because of: 1. The uterus not contracting properly 2. Some tissues of placenta or membranes remaining inside 3.Imroper involution of the uterus : Involution is a process of bringing the uterus almost to pre-pregnant state after the delivery. 4. Some infection in the uterine cavity. 5. Some injury inside the reproductory tract. All these may act interdependently or may act independently. In fact non contracting uterus and improper involution is usually not seen if the baby is exclusively breastfed. If you are bleeding without any pain in the lower abdomen then it is due to uterus not contracting. You need to take some medicines which will make the uterus contract. Please report to your obstetrician and get the medicines. The second cause will lead to infection along with the bleeding. The second and fourth causes will give rise to foul smelling discharge, fever and pain in lower abdomen due to the infection. these condition need antibiotics and removal of any tissue that is left inside the uterus. Of course after two months how this tissue can be removed is a problem. If it cannot be, it can be destroyed by some medicines. In cases of non- or sub involution of the uterus, the drugs making the uterus to contract usually help. This can be due to or lead to hormonal imbalance. Accordingly the medicines are required. In case of injury, by two months it would definitely get infected and you will start getting fever, foul smelling discharge and pain along with the bleeding. They need antibiotics with the surgical repair of the injury. So please have a look whether you are having fever, foul smell to the bleeding and pain. Whatever is the condition, you have to report to the obstetrician without wasting time and get properly treated. Mind well untreated reproductory tract infection may lead to damage of the tubes ultimately leading to infertility. Your second concern is about the risk of pregnancy because of the intercourse. If you are exclusively feeding your child on the breasts, the chances of pregnancy are very less. In fact it is a fairly successful method of contraception. Moreover, if you had intercourse while you are bleeding, the chances of pregnancy are almost negligible. Since you are continuously bleeding you cannot time your urine pregnancy test also. May be after about 3 weeks, ultrasonography can give some information. Anyway, please report to your obgy physician. However, a word of caution, please do not have sexual intercourse during vaginal bleeding. It carries a risk of infection.
