Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I took Microgynon for 8 years, the pill suited me well. But after that long period I wanted a pill with less hormones so I took Cerazette for 6 months. I got ( and still have) a lot of side effect: nausea, headaches and fatigue so I want to go back to the Microgynon again. I would like to give my body a break (no hormones). Is it wisely to stop the Cerazette, then take one week no pill at all, and after that pill-free week to start with Microgynon? It is no problem that I am not safe for a few weeks, I just think it s good for my body to be pill-free for a week. Thank you for your answer! José

How To Switch From Cerazette To Microgynon?
Hi, When changing pills (like Microgynon to Cerazette), it’s best to go straight from one type to the to other, without taking a gap in between. Switch pills when you are taking your ‘active’ ones (with hormones), so that your hormone levels do not have the chance to drop. You do not need to wait for your withdrawal bleed before switching pills. If you wish to have a pill-free week then there is a risk of withdrawal bleeding. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Take care Regards, Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali, General & Family Physician
