How To Terminate Pregnancy?
Hello Doctor, I am 30 years old single and 6weeks and 2days pregnant. I want an abortion. My bf consulted his family gynaec n she adviced to take one 200mg mifepreston tablet orally. Then after 24hours to take two 200mg misoprostol and repeat it again after 24hours. Whereas I consulted another gynaec who advised to take the two 200mg misoprostol tablets after 48hours of taking mifepreston and to repeat other two misoproston tablets after 4hours. I am confused that what to follow. Please help soon as I have already taken mifepreston yesterday at 12pm and its 3p.m now.

The following is the recommended regimen of mifepristone and misoprostol for abortion up to about 70-80 days gestation. Mifepristone 200mg orally followed by Misoprostol 800 micro grams administered buccally 24-48 hours later.
So, you can take mifepristone 200 mg and then after 24 hours, take 2 tablets of 200mcg misoprostol and repeat these 2 tablets of 200mcg misoprostol after another 24 hours. So you need to follow the regimen of your boy friend's gynecologist.

For termination of 1st trimester pregnancy, Mifepreston 200 mg tablet is taken followed by a course of misoprostol. However, there is not complete consensus on the dosage and timing of misoprostol. Still, there is complete unanimity that the dosage may be 600 mcg to 800 mcg. Dosage less than 600 mcg are less effective as compared to a dosage of 600-800 mcg.
This total dose is to be taken within 24-48 hours of Mifepreston. You may take it in single dose or two divided doses within 24-48 hours. The dosage may be taken vaginally, orally, sublingual or by buccal route. Some prefer to split the dosage into vaginally and oral route. Therefore a minor difference in timing will be the preference of particular gynecologist. Still, in my opinion the latest dose should be not later than 48 hours of taking Mifepreston for favorable results.
