How To Test And Differentiate Between Herpes And Gonorrhoea?
Hi, I have some questions about Herpes - contracting and diagnosing it.How accurate is a visual diagnosis, and can herpes look similar to gonorrhoea? Also, if I want to get my blood tested for the herpes virus, do I need to wait a certain amount of time after experiencing the first symptoms? Can my partner have given this to me even though he has never had an outbreak?
Herpes and gonorrhea are both STD having some what similar symptoms like sores, skin rashes in genital area as well as burning pain when urinating. However, one thing that differentiates these two is that in case of gonorrhea there is discharge from penis or vagina also. Herpes can also be given by your partner, who is having infection, but no symptoms of herpes.
Generally, antibodies take 6-8 weeks in a case of herpes after getting the infection. Therefore, you should wait for this period for your blood test to be positive, after experiencing the first symptom of herpes. Also, if your swab test for genital herpes is positive and blood test negative, then it is to be taken as recent infection.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
