Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 18. I have regular cycle which is 28 days. Last September my period was delayed for 6 days and a week delayed in October. I missed my period in November and I m delayed for 3 weeks now. I did a pregnancy test last week and came out negative. Is there a chance that I can be pregnant? Should I Sk my doctor to order a scan for me?
You have PCOD and regular 28 days cycle. So there is chance of pregnancy as you have regular period. You missed period in November and delayed by 3 week. I would suggest to go for blood HCG test and USG scan to confirm pregnancy. Both are more accurate then urinary pregnancy test. If tests will come positive then pregnancy will be confirmed.
In absence of pregnancy, delayed period could be due to hormonal imbalance caused by PCOD. Period can be induced by progesterone pill in absence of pregnancy. Avoid stress, take healthy diet, drink plenty of water and do regular exercise.
Hope this may help you. Contact further if follow up needed.
Best regards, Dr. Sagar
