How To Treat BPD Long After Suffering From Brain Damage?

35 yrs ago I suffered brain damage and since then I now know that I m suffering from borderline personality disorder. I not sure why and after 29yrs I was finally diagnosed with BPD. I ve had counselling and metallisation, but it did nor work so the psychiatric has made me do the metallisation over again but sadly it still hasn t gelled. My brain functions are below standard. So I want to know how brain damage made me suffer from BPD and I also have a 2 minute memory though talking therapy, so is any therapy that works.

Hello,

You have not mentioned here how you had your brain damage, by injury / accident (physical) or emotional. However people having BPD are highly emotional and have difficulties managing their emotions. You are suggested to avoid emotionally triggering events, places or people. You may have a hard time returning to the stable baseline after the triggering event.

Try staying where you are more comfortable. Yes, apart from the medications therapies do help but they may take time(from few weeks to 1-2 years). Some therapy that work well are CBT (DBT, SFT) to manage conscious thoughts and behavior. Psycodynamic therapy to manage unconscious processes. Psycotherapy does work. It's all about control of emotions, if you can do that you will just get fine. No worries, stay cheerful & switch to healthy lifestyle. Avoid addictions if any.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
