my son is 5 months and 15 days old and he was diagnosed with UTI last 2 weeks ago. after his treatment his doctor advice us to have another urinalysis lab..and the result is Pus cells 5-8 /hpf, Red blood cell 0-2 /hpf, bacteria is few and mucus threads are few. what is the meaning of all these results, doc? thanks
Hi, Thank you for asking question on health care magic. After treatment of UTI and after two weeks still the pus cells are present suggest that there may be some congenital anatomical abnormality like congenital prostatic valves. You have to consult urologist and get the MCU (micturating cysto urethrography) done to detect these valves. Hope this answer will serve your purpose Please feel free to ask any more queries if required Take care Dr.M.V.Subrahmanyam MD;DCH Associate professor of pediatrics
