I am 38 and have had a hearing loss with a relatively flat profile (graph) ranging from 40-55db loss in both ears. I am wondering how severe this is and how much it has impacted my life and personality. Do you know where I could go for this type of information. I have not been successful with multiple google searches.
Noted your short and specific history. Your mentioning of whether the loss is for air conduction, bone conduction or both could have helped me for e diagnosis. Well, if the loss is only air conduction then you need to consult an ENT Surgeon to find the cause like Eustachian tube blockage, fluid in middle ear, atelectaisis and this will give a proper diagnosis and thus allow a proper medical management. IF the loss is sensorineural means you then need a hearing aid after a proper clinical evaluation and testing with multiple frequency setting to suit you the most.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
