Hello!

Thank you for your question on HCM! I appreciate your concern.

There are different causes of loss of sudden loss of conscience ( or syncope). I would like to know your age.

There are cardiac causes like a cardiac arrhythmia, low blood pressure or orthostatic hypotension which cause fainting and loss of conscience. The fact that you don't drink too much water is in favor of a low blood pressure from dehydratation.

Other causes are neurological like an Epileptic seizure.

I would recommend you to perform some tests like :
-routine blood work for anemia
-blood pressure monitoring in sitting and standing position and a Head up tilt test for orthostatic hypotension.
-resting ECG and 24h ECG monitoring for cardiac arrhythmia
- EEG to exclude epilepsy. If the EEG is abnormal a brain CT scan would be necessary to exclude possible brain lesions.

Hope to have been helpful!

Greetings!
Dr. Aida
