How To Treat A Bump And Pain In Leg Caused After Injury?

My lawn mower threw a very large rock out hitting me in the front lower leg where the leg meets the foot. It was very painful at the time it happened, causing me to limp. No broken skin and the area never bruised but swelled and a knot formed above the main swelling. The knot went away after a couple days but the area is still swelled and tender to the touch, though not as much as it was. It has been 6 days. Is this the normal healing process for this type injury? I was surprised it did not bruise as it was a very hard hit. Thank you
