Hello,
A chronic or long standing compression fracture do not give that rewarding results after plasty procedure against that of fresh ones. In terms of functionality and pain concern, I would recommend:
- Avoidance of particular postural maneuvers which provoke pain
- Assisted
physiotherapy,
ultrasound wax bath or sonic therapy
- Support of strength of bones with calcium,
vitamin D3, minerals as magnesium, zinc and other vitamins
- Control of obesity (if there)
- better analgesic as tramadol hydrochloride or morphine according to the pain concern and scale out of 10
- Epidural analgesia with expert intervention
radiologist when medical therapy fails or inadequate to control pain
- Look into the matter of other causes of
osteoporosis if any
Surgery as a last resort after discussion of all pros and cons of the procedure.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
