How To Treat A Foot Drop After Cutting The Nerves?

Hi, my wife had operated on left foot knee back (baker's cyst). but later, the general surgeon says that it was nerve tumor so she cutted the nerves and now my wife has foot drop since jan2011. we check again with plastic surgeon and had done emg test and accordingly, her nerves got damaged during the operation of the cyst. Now the doctor says that they will do the tendon transfer on her foot and about the nerves that got affected during the first operation, they will open it again and they will hid the cut nerves inside the muscle to avoid sensitivity. is this ok?
