How To Treat A Fractured Foot Leading To Pain And Swelling?
I believe I fractured my 3rd toe on my left foot. i stubbed my toe three weeks ago. It bruised for several days with moderate pain which lessened with use. It continues to be swollen and red and is sore in the morning and sensitive to pressure. My understanding is a toe can t ce splinted or casted. What are my options?
You have fractured your 3rd toe on the left foot. It is bruised, swollen, sore and red. It is sensitive to pressure. You are suggested to take NSAIDs, naproxen sodium or Combiflam, one SOS when pain. Take the medicine after food to prevent formation of gas or acidity. Give rest to the foot as much as you can. Keep it on top of a stool when sitting or on a pillow when on bed.
You should get clinically examined by an Orthopedics, get X-ray done. The Orthopedics will manipulate the pieces back into their proper positions (reduction) if the broken pieces do not fit snugly together. It can be done without cutting open your skin. Ice or an injected anesthetic is commonly used to numb the affected toe. A walking cast may be given if needed. You may need a stiff bottomed shoe for better healing. Get treated at the earliest.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
