How To Treat A Growing Pineal Cyst In A 27 Year Old Who Is Also Suffering From Headaches, Hearing Loss And Vision Problems?

My 27 year old daughter has a pineal cyst 10mm x 17mm ( it has grown 2mm in 3 weeks) How do I find a dr. that will take it serious. She suffers severe headaches, hearing loss and vision problems. They just keep giving her more and more meds. At a loss for what to do.

Hi,

Thank you for posting your query.

First of all, I would like to reassure you that pineal cysts are common and are not of serious concern.

It is a benign condition and does not increase in size that fast. 2mm difference in size in 3 weeks is probably due to measurement issues, and not the real increase in size. Typically, the MRI scan should be repeated after 6 months, and then, one has to take a decision to operate or leave it alone.

Please discuss these issues with a neurosurgeon.

I hope my answer helps. Please get back if you have any follow up queries or if you require any additional information.

Wishing you good health,
