How To Treat A Infected Wound Caused Due To Injury?
I got a cut last night and I put bandaid and boroline on it and went to sleep. Now it has a little bit of pus on it. It hurts only if I press otherwise not. will it be sufficient to clean it with saline solution or maybe with diluted savalon ?Thanks

General & Family Physician, Dr. Piyush K's Response
Welcome to HCM. I understand your concern. After a cut, it has to be cleaned with savlon or betadiene solution and kept open avoiding contact with water. Keeping it closed results in helping the oxygen deprived condition to build on in the wound and providing favourable climate for infecting organism to grow.
Now you can use betadiene solution to clean the wound and let it remain open. In case fever develops thereafter consult a local physician as antibiotic may be needed. Thanks and regards. Take care.
